Measure Your Lawn Online – Free Lawn Size Calculator
Want to know how big your lawn is? Use our free lawn measuring tool to work out your lawn size in square metres in under a minute. You don’t need a tape measure. Just search your address, trace around your grass on the satellite map, and the calculator works out the area for you.
Knowing your lawn size is the first step to a healthier, greener lawn. It helps you work out how much lawn feed, grass seed or top dressing you need, and it gives us what we need to plan the right lawn treatment programme for your garden.
How to measure your lawn
-
Search your address or postcode. The map will zoom in to your property.
-
Press “Draw a lawn”. Tap or click each corner of your lawn on the satellite image.
-
Close the shape. Tap the yellow first point, or press “Finish shape”, and your lawn area appears in m² and sq ft.
-
Add more lawns. Have a front and back garden? Add each lawn separately and the calculator will add them together into one total.
Tip: for the most accurate measurement, draw around flower beds, patios, paths and ponds so you’re only measuring the grass. If a point is slightly out, just drag it to the right spot.
How big is the average lawn?
As a rough guide, most UK front lawns are between 30 and 100 m², and most back lawns are between 50 and 250 m². Larger gardens in Surrey and Hertfordshire can easily be 300 m² or more. If you’re not sure, the measuring tool will give you an accurate figure in seconds.
Why your lawn size matters
-
Lawn treatments. Fertiliser, weed control and moss control are applied at set rates per square metre, so the correct lawn size means the correct amount every time.
-
Scarification and aeration. Knowing your lawn area helps us plan the right equipment and time for the job.
-
Overseeding and top dressing. Order the right amount of seed and top dressing without wasting money or running short.
